Show Botchers Complara of Meal iospection M. W. Belknap, former soldier with the Tenth Engineers in France, was appointed as city meat inspector by the city commission this morning. Ke will nasumo his new duties Monday morning, according to an announcement announce-ment made by J. Hay Ward, commissioner commis-sioner of public safety, who recommended recom-mended the appopintmcnt. A delegation of local butchers came before the commissioners this morning morn-ing and complained of tho method in which meat inspections had bevn made by the city In the past. They declared that tho source of meat coming com-ing from outsido of the city was not carefully checked and investigated, while they were compelled to live up to the most stringent regulations. The system, they said, left an opening for unfair competition. The matter wat taken under advisement and will be Investigated. 00 |
