I SUPREME COURT RULES IN FAVOR OF WOMEN SALT LAKE, April 14. Miss Edna Cowan won a verdict in the supreme court yesterday in tho sum of 51.000 ' against the Salt Lake & Utah railroad1 as a result of an accident at Salem some years ago. The court revorsed a judgment in favor of the driver of the car in which Miss" Cowan was traveling, although it found the rail-! road company of operating a train at an excessive speed in the center of the town at a place where there was no warning signal. Another passenger, Miss Montaffu, has won a verdict in her favor acainat the company in tho matter of tho same accidont. Justice Frick upholds the Minnesota Min-nesota rule which makes the passenger passen-ger responsiblo only for his own personal per-sonal safety, and leaves it to a jury to decide whether, under the circurn-J circurn-J stanccs he was justified in trusting - - "Is safety to the care of a driver. oo
