There have been drives and drives ;l and nearly everybody has worn skin from his hand reaching in and out of his pocket, giving to this, that and the , 1 other cause, nnd there is one more drive at hand. That Is the drive to ob-j ob-j tain a sum to build a monument on the Marne where the .German, rush :l was topped. ' But this is one drive to which evcry- ! body can contribute with the best of srace. The monument is to cost a quarter of a million dollars and this sum Is virtually nothing when there '' are about 100,000,000 persons among whom the sum can be distributed. The plan is to have everybody give a small sum not to have a few give a large sum, for it is desired to have the ( monument on the Marne a genuine gift from the American people, not just a few American people.
