Show PANAMA CANAL SLIDE DELAYS LARGE SHIPS W ASHINGTON, March. 15. Heavy draft ships undertaking the passage I of the Panama canal probably will be subject to occasional delay of a day or two as the result of continuing landslides, land-slides, at Cucaracha, the war department depart-ment has been advised by Governor Harding of the Panama canal zoiw. The department announced today that the governor had cabled that the first slide occurred Friday night, resulting re-sulting in holding up six ships. "Governor Harding reports," caid tho announcement, "that from a personal per-sonal Inspection of tho slide, he anticipates antici-pates Intermittent movement for a few weeks with the possibility of an occasional delay of a day or two for heavy draft ships. The Cucaracha rlide is one on the east side of the canal lmtiiodlr.tcly south of Gold Hill." |
