Show FRANK K. NEBEKER IS GUEST OF MOR AT CLUB High tributes were paid to Attorney Frank K Nebcker of Salt Lake at a j banquet Riven in his honor last night at tho Weber club by the Ogden Publicity Pub-licity bureau. Mr. Nebeker Is on the eve of his departure for Washington, D. C, where he will become an assistant assis-tant attorney general of the United States and will have charge of the office of-fice of land investigation. Tho acthity of the attorney in his prosecutions of the members ot the I. W. W. in tho Chicago trials was selected by many of the speakers as the subject upon which to place their praise of a man they spoke of as a fearless public official. The notable feature of the trials in Chicago was the fact that "Big Bill" Haywood and about twenty other leaders of the movement were convicted, causing At-torne At-torne Nebeker to become a national figure Many expressions of appreciation were glyen by the various prominent speakers of the evening, Mr. Nebeker being given assurance that his friends were back of him in such work in the future. James DeVine acted a foastmaater, being introduced by President Warren L. Wattis of the club. Among those who spoke, paying tribute to the record rec-ord of Mr. Nebeker, were Governor Simon Bamberger Judge Valentine Gideon of the supreme court. Judge Agee of the district court, W. H. Wat-tis, Wat-tis, Mayor T. S. Browning. Fred G. Taylor. Judge H. H. Henderson and Dr. E. M. Conroy. Governor Speaks Gorernor Bamberger in his ad.Jr. H said that Attorney Nebeker had not only distinguished himself as a lawyer but as a man of courage He said that Mr. Nebeker had made the I. W. W. know that they, like others, had to obey the law. . H Wattls commented upon Attorney At-torney Xebeker's work and said that Americans should stand behind the man who does his full dutv fearlessly and should do all that they can to I help and aid him in his work. Judge Asree declared that, 'as grave as the present crisis 8( We are facing a greater crisis now than before the war The Bolsheviki idea is to tear down organized government. Courage of public officials is required to fact this condition and oppo?e it."
