Show DOCTORS TO EMU CHILDREN FIRST SGHQQL DAY Superintendent Henry C. Johnson presided at a meeting of principals and supervisors of the city schools yesterday morning when matters reflating re-flating to the conduct of the schools and the curriculum were discussed at length. It was the unanimous opinion of the meeting that, owing to the short time left Jn which to complete a full year's work, all usual holidays would be abolished abol-ished and the students required to make a perfect attendance. Five per cent will be deducted from the marks of any student who Is obsent from school without justifiable caua?. The greatest possible care Is to be taken of the health of the children. The schools are all in clean condition, condi-tion, and tho teachers, many of whom have proved themselves devoted and able nurses, will pay especial regard to the physical condition of every child in tho class. The services of Miss Gladys Titley, the school nurse, will be used further to aid the staff of the schools In doing the wisest things for the physical welfare of every ev-ery child that goes to school. On Monday morning, the doctors of the city will visit the schools and cause the children to pass a physical examination and everything possible will be done, not only to detect weakness weak-ness but to prevent tho occurrence of any physical trouble. On Monday afternoon, at A o'clock, the teachers of tho city will meet with Mr. Johnson in the Central Junior high school to discuss further plans and methods for the year's work. nn |
