A brief report of what the chapter i had accomplished in the selling of ; government bonds and stamps, and ' through its Red Cross auxiliary, came ; as a revelation and gleamed like a bea-! bea-! con light in a cloud of war depres-( depres-( sion. . . . J To Mrs. J H. Epperson, supervisor of the auxiliary, with Mrs. P. F. "Kir-kcndall "Kir-kcndall and Mrs. Max Davidson, chairmen, chair-men, and to Mrs. I. N. Pulton, chairman chair-man of the W. S. S. committee, great credit is due for the results, nlso to Mrs. Burton F. Dinsmore for subscriptions sub-scriptions to Liberty bonds. With maternal pride- "Miriam" has noted iho entrance of her members Into the national sorvice- of the Red Cross canteen and the Red Cross motor mo-tor corps. In these departments the women have manifested surprising physical strength and moral courage when responding day or night to the calls of the American Red Cross chap-tor chap-tor of Weber county. , Not only has the motor corps carried car-ried into the homes tho required supplies sup-plies and nurses, but it has rescued little waifs and placed them in the Martha Society home where peace and plenty happily abound. In this corps Mrs. P. F. Kirkendall is Miriam's representative. rep-resentative. In the Red Cross canteen are Mrs. George Glen, Mrs, Ralph D. Roberts. Mrs. II. C. Stevens, Mrs. A. V. Mcintosh, Mc-intosh, Mrs. S. W. Wherry an'd Mrs. P. F. Kirkendall and of the nurses who risked life, itself to alleviate sufferers suf-ferers of the influenza, no names' are more emblazoned with tho spirit of unselfish love, than are the names of Miss Gladys C. E. Titley. Miss Ernm Davidson and Miss Alva Davidson. To all these patriotic workers from Miriam chapter every one can bow in full acknowledgment of their worth hence this interlineation of the Red Cross features of the past year, an account ac-count of which should be recorded in the annals of organization. The joy of service is great, but the joy of meeting without a war or the flu will be greater. |
