Show MAOIM SCHOOL DEDICATED AT A GATHERING OF PARENTS, AI TEACHERS LAST EVENING The Madison school was dedicated last night at a formal gathering in the school auditorium. Parents, teachers and school patrons to the number of several hundred visited the building to hear the program and inspect the building. Tho Madison school has been reconstructed recon-structed at a cost of 57,600 and has been rnaue into one oi tne most modern mod-ern and comfortable schodls of the slate. It formerly had but eight rooms but nt present has twenty-two. "We expect that this building will now be adequate for many years to come." said Dr. Edward Rich, a member mem-ber of tho board of education, in addressing ad-dressing tho gathering last nighL "Otherwise we should not have spent so much money on it. There was a great need in this district for such a building and tho board considered the outlay warranted by the need. We shall make 'kindling wood of the old 'back building' in the spring." The old "back building" spoken of by Dr. Rich has been used at the Madison Madi-son for many years as an additional building but was never considered as a school of which Ogden could be proud. The program as rendered by the students and speakers was warmly received by the audience. Principal W. L. Underwood of the Madison school was tho first speaker and he told briefly of his satisfaction of got-tlng got-tlng such a comfortable building for his district and of his pleasure at being its neau. SupL Henry C. Johnson delivered an appropriate speech and Included timely time-ly remarks of a patriotic nature. The two first grade classes opened the program pro-gram with a song. The Second grades furnished the next song. A minuet was danced by the boys and girls of the third and fourth grades, dressed in costume. A flag ritual was rendered by the pupils of the fourth, fifth and sixth grades. At the conclusion of the program the visitors were taken on a tour of inspection of the building. |
