Six chief mechanics of the regiment, who have been students at tho motor instruction school at Peoria, 111., arrived ar-rived this morning and reportod to their batteries for duty. Tho men nre Chief Mechanics John TV. Tuft, A battery; bat-tery; Fred L. Hood, B batten'; Lester J. Olsen, C battery; Glen W. Stout, D battery; Frod L. Rampton, E battery; and Earl B. Blomquist, F battery. The mechanics were put through an intensive inten-sive courso of training for six wcoks and they will now act as instructors for mechanics of the motor tractors. In F battery today Harold J. Cassidy was promoted to wagoner for motor tractor work and J. Y. Typton was made a private of tho first class. E battery promoted Privates Russell P. Morris and George P. Chllds to wagoners. wag-oners. No More Transfers. An order Issued by divisional headquarters head-quarters today put an end to mea of the command making application for transfer to tho aviation corps. Tho order, or-der, however, docs not apply to the men who have already made application applica-tion and have been axamined. Scores of artillerymen have passed their testa and are now awaiting the call to tho flying school. In accordance with "regulations from Washington every man of the Utah command now has been supplied with two identification tags, which ho must carry Tvith him at all times. Tho tags aro of motal and attached to a band and worn about tho neck under the shirt. The name, rank, unit and regiment regi-ment is stamped into the motal with dies and afford a clear and positive identification. Tho idea of two tags for each man is new. The method is used in order that one tag can be removed re-moved in case of death or serious in-Jury in-Jury and the name of the man reported correctly and quickly. Tho second tag stays with the man in case of later identification. Private Eugene F. Nelson Nel-son of B battery was today given a discharge dis-charge from tho Hervico. due to slight physical defects. Ho will leave for his homo in Utah tomorrow. Captain George F. Roberts, commander comman-der of the Utah field hospital, who was poisoned through mistaking tablets in the darkness and is now in tho camp base hospital, Ib Improving. Tho doc tors roporiea loaay mat tno ouicer was now out of danger and will be able to again assume command of hia unit within a few days. A check of $100, to bo turned ovor to the Federated Feder-ated States society of San Diego to provide for amusement of tho enlisted enlist-ed men when in town, was today received re-ceived by Chaplain B. The Boclety has done much for the Camp Kearny soldiers and has mado their leisure hours in tho city pleasant Moving pictures, showing the activities activit-ies of the Utah boys at Camp Kearny, were completed today by O. Tho filming of the artillerymen artillery-men has reached over a period of a week. Tho photographers donated their services to the state In taking the films.
