Show ROAD WORK 111 FOREST DISTRICTS TO BE POSHED District Forester Kneipp and J. P. Martin of the highway and roads department, de-partment, returned Friday evening from Denver where they were in conference con-ference with officials from Washington, Washing-ton, San Francisco and Denver. The purpose of the conference was to discuss greater efficiency and the reducing of costs in the making of surveys and plans. During the period of the war, materials and supplies were exhorbitant in price and as a result the expense attached to the making of surveys was also high. But with the war over, there will bo a decline de-cline in cost of materials, and with a plan for the decrease of numbers in a survey party, it is expected tfrat the former cost will be greatly reduced. Tentative plans for the construction of several important highways throughout the district were also made and these plans will be carried out in the spring, with the sanction of county coun-ty officials. The most important of these roads will bo the Galena.-Summlt road, Montpelier to Afton; North Fork-Fay -ettot river; Heber-Fruitland road; Ephraim-Orangevllle; .Cedar-Long Valley road and several others within Uie district. According to Mr. Martin, there will bo plenty funds to carry on this proposed pro-posed construction, there being a combined com-bined fund of approximately $221,000 for Utah alone, $160,919 of this being provided for by the federal aid roads act of July 11, -916. nn |
