Show HALIFAX, N. S., Dec. 10. The deck cargo of tho British steamer Picton1, laden with munitions, caught fire last night and only the quick and courageous courag-eous work of a Halifax company of riflemen prevented another big explo sion in tne Harbor. The men boarded board-ed the ship, threw the burning cargo overboard and checked the flames be-for be-for they could spread to the holds. The vessel was taken to sea todav and sunk. After the Plcton had gone to the bottom it was officially announced announc-ed that there was absolutely no danger dan-ger now of other explosions in the harbor. HALIFAX, N.
