I Rev. Mr. Garver, during the delivery I of a remarkably able discourse, ob-served ob-served that Judge Agee was among his auditors. Some one -far down in front unable to restrain her enthusiasm en-thusiasm began' clapping her hands. Five hundred people followed and continued con-tinued until Judge Agee arose and acknowledged ack-nowledged the impromptu but exceedingly exceed-ingly lively demonstration that was going go-ing on with him as the honoree. Rev. Mr. Garver's reference to Judge Agee was the result of the opinion he handed down in sustaining a demurer filed by the state in tho case against Joseph Laucirica, a former saloon man of Ogden, seeking to replevin a large quantity of liquors and wines confiscated in a raid made by Sheriff Herbert Peterson, The court, in his opinion, held that the prohibition laws should not be interpreted upon technicality tech-nicality but upon intent and it was the intent of the law to suppress the liquor li-quor traffic. oo |
