Mr. Cooley is western manager ,5 of the Dearborn Drug & Chemical Co. and has general offices in the California Cali-fornia metropolis, i PARCEL SHOWER 1 Last Wednesday afternoon at the ' homo of Miss Frances Hitter a parcel shower was given in honor of Miss Sadie Ritter whose engagement was recently announced. The afternoon was spent in games and dancing and fifteen j friends enjoyed the afternoon. Miss J Hitter received some very pretty gifts. I! METHODIST MISSIONARY SOCIETY. Mrs. Homer Seip was hostess to the Missionary society of the Methodist church on Wednesday afternoon and an unusually large attendance test!-fled test!-fled to the lcreasing interest in the missionary work as well as the popu-Sfihl popu-Sfihl n ?Q h0SteES- At the close ?h nBlnfiS f38'011 Psided over Mr ?,5resIdfnt; Mrs' Clancy-Smith, j1 Mrs. Dodson took charge of the program pro-gram each number of which was well prepared and entertaining as well as instructive. Mrs. Dodson road a paper on "Primitive Paganism" and was followed fol-lowed by Mrs. Middleton on "Tho African Af-rican Belief in Reincarnation," Mrs. Cole on "The Things of Fear," Mrs. Wycoff on "African Simple Life," and Mrs. Carr on "Methodism's West Front." Mrs. Howard Williams played a very beautiful piano selection and Mrs. Hess accompanied by Mrs. Decker Dec-ker sang two stirring numbors, "It is uruuu i.u uu Aiive, ana wnon tne Boys Come Home." After the fun of the mystery box, tho hostess served light refreshments, and the meeting adjourned to moot January 11 with Mrs. Harold Packer, G52 Twenty-first street. All are urged to be present at 2 o'clock to observe the national day of prayer for things missionary. MISS TELFORD TO LEAVE ON MISSION One of the particularly delightful parties of the week was that given last Monday night In honor of Miss Florence Flor-ence Telford at her home In West Weber by members of the Sunday school board with whom she has been working. Miss Telford left on Wednesday Wed-nesday for Chicago where she will have her headquarters while on a mission mis-sion in the northern states for the Mormon church. The party was in the nature of a surprise, the guests gathering in Og-den Og-den and proceeding to Miss Telford's home in automobiles. After the guests arrived at the Telford home games of various natures were played and a dainty lunch was served. Miss Telford was presented with a fountain pen bearing a gold band with her full name engraved thereon, by the mem-jbers mem-jbers of the board. She thanked her ifripnris With o Umaln J J their kindness and assured them all of the pleasure she had derived from their companionship while on the Sunday Sun-day school board. Several songs were rendered and humorous readings were given by some of the guests. The following were presents Mr and Mrs. William R. Lockhart and two liOle sons, Lester and Woodrow, left Ogden today for Flint, Mich., where they will visit Mr. Lockhart's relatives rela-tives for a few weeks. Other points of interest throughout the east will be visited. VISITING IN OGDEN. Mrs. R. C. Howell of Salt Lake Is visiting m Ogden with her mother Mrs. J. H. SImlster. Mrs. R, B. Archi- ; bald, another daughter of Mrs. Sim-Ister, Sim-Ister, has returned to her home In Boise after a two weeks' stay in Ogden. Og-den. TO GREET HuIbAND WHO IS ON WAY FROM FRANCE Mrs. James A. Northrup, who has been visiting her parents, Mr. and Mrs. S. H. Moyes for some time, loft Ogden on Friday afternoon for New York City where she will meet her husband who is to arrive from France on business for the government sometime next week. Captain Northrup Is in the administrative adminis-trative department of the Signal Corps and has been In charge of purchases of clothing for the aviatidn service. When Captain Northrup returns to France again, Mrs. Northrup expects to come west to spend somo time. FOR A DECEMBER BRIDE-TO-BE Miss Sadie Ritter whose marriage will be an Interesting event of tho coming week has been the honored gueBt during the past few days at a number of delightful entertainments, entertain-ments, one of the most pleasant being a kitchen shower given last Tuesday afternoon by Mrs. Ida Ritter. Fourteen girl friends of the bride-to-be were present at this affair and brought the honor guest many useful kitchen utensils. A temptingly served luncheon was a pleasant feature of the afternoon affair. |
