Show I uu No Gasoline Shortage But Saving Is Urged There is no shortage in gasoline, according ac-cording to Fuel Administrator Garfield's Gar-field's announcement from Washing- ! ton; but economy is both desirable i and essential.. 1 The fuel administrator says that his G survey reveals a plentiful supply of gasoline for present needs, and that g there is no prospect of immediate re- 9 strlction for transportation purposes. I However, he heartily endorses the fl "Don't Waste Gasoline" campaign of the National Automobile Chamber of Commerce and many manufacturers. Saving of gasoline now means not only more for future U3e, but may tend to keep prices at or about their present pres-ent level. Gasoline, it is pointed out, is ono of tho few commodities that has not risen rapidly and repeatedly in price. It has remained practically stationary for the last four months; in some places the price is even lower than it was four months ago; and the jj raises havo been at the rate of a half cent or a cont a gallon. Other neces- J saries havo advanced by far greater I precentages. In connection with Mr. Garfield's statement, it Is Interesting to note 9 how Cadillac engineers have enabled Cadillac owners to join in the fuel I conservation campaign, says Manager !J W. B. Taylor of the local company. Economy, of course, was the goal of Cadillac engineers when they incor-1 porated an automatic "leaning" do-vice do-vice In the carburetor. With this device de-vice it Is possible to have a lean mixture mix-ture at average driving speeds, still permitting a mixture rich enough to insure good operation at very low and very high speeds. |
