Show ONE DOCTOR REPORTS 31 NEW CASES OF SPANISH INFLUENZA AND TOTAL IS ALMOST 200 Inspector George Shorten of the department de-partment of public health, Is desirous that panic with regard to Spanish Influenza In-fluenza should not spread throughout the community. The effort of the local lo-cal authorities acting under orders or-ders from the slate board, Is to save Ogden from a maliginant epidemic. epi-demic. All the measures now being taken have that purpose in view, and individuals and parents of famlliics are asked to co-operate with the department de-partment in stemming the tide of the disease. This morning, while the Standard representative was interviewing Mr. Shorten, a telephone call from a city doctor announced thirty-one new cases, all of thorn rather severe. At the present time thero are close upon 200 cases in the city. But the doctors wish the people to remember that no good can come from caHing a bad cold Spanish influenza. The symptoms symp-toms of a very bad cold, of smallpox, of many varieties of influenza are all so alike that at the beginning of the trouble it is hard to tell just what the complaint may prove to bo. The sane, comman sense and wise thing for every person to do just now is to consult the medical men on the appearance of any trouble that affects the eyes, tho nose and throat, the chest and lungs. When in doubt, call the doctor. |
