M. Ledyard of the central cen-tral committee named by Dr. E. G. Peterson of the Agricultural college yesterday, and outlined the program to be followed by the fraternity. It was agreed that the Masons will rent one or more farms and that in lieu of a contribution of cash to a fund for the support of dependents upon soldiers sol-diers they will contribute money for the purchase of seeds, the products of which vill be given to these dependents. depend-ents. In this way the money will be made to give fnr greater service than in the form of cash donations, and will relieve a part of the pressure of the demand for food. A far greater supply of food will thus be made avail- able, and the scope of the relief work will bo correspondingly increased. Labor will be employed to till these farms and the United Statos Smelting company, of which Mr. Ledyard Is agricultural ag-ricultural director, will supply farm machinery and equipment. Mr. Ledyard Led-yard will supervise the cultivation of theso farms and the harvesting of the crops. |
