Show BRYAN IN LINE FOR PREPAREDNESS. From one end of the country to the other, the demand is for preparedness by farming and gardening. An exchange ex-change says: "It is impossible to lay too much emphasis on the fact that the war upon up-on which our country has now entered must be fought, in very large part, on American soil not so much with sword and gun as with shovel and hoe. An army of soldiers is utterly useless unless provision Is made for feeding them. Seldom in the history of our nation has the farmer played so important im-portant a part In the national welfare as is given him to play this year. That this Is a fact is evident from the extraordinary pains that are being taken to mobilize the agricultural forces of the country." Even Bryan has called on President Wilson to offer his services in stimulating stim-ulating food production. |
