Show oo U ITOTFlffill fl 9P mOTF lw 11 S I H iiLlillIsSi u IwlL TO fMWtV WASHINGTON, April 10 Austria's note to American Charge Grw at Vienna, Vi-enna, severing diplomatic relations with the United States because of this country's declaration of war with Germany Ger-many and offering every facility for the return of American officials in Austria, was made public at the state department today with an official statement, as follows: "The following dispatch, dated April 8, from American chargo d'affaires, Vienna, Vi-enna, has been received by the department depart-ment of state: "Minister for foreign affairs has just Informed me that the diplomatic relations rela-tions between the United States and Austria-Hungary arc broken and has handed me passports for myself and the members of the embassy. He states that wo may leavo the monarchy at our convenience and that every possible pos-sible courtesy will be extended. Am telegraphing consuls to arrange their affairs and proceed to Vienna with a view to leaving for Switzerland if possible pos-sible at end of week." Following is translation of noto handed by minister: "Since the United States of America has declared a state of war exists between be-tween it and the Imperial German government, gov-ernment, Austria-Hungary, as allies of the German empire, havo decided to break off diplomatic relations with the United States and the imperial and royal embassy at Washington has been Instructed to inform the department of state to that effect. "While regretting under these circumstances cir-cumstances to see a termination of the relations which he has had the honor to hold with the charge d'affaires of the United States of America, the undersigned un-dersigned does not fail to place at tho former's disposal herewith the passports pass-ports for the departure from Austria-Hungary Austria-Hungary of himself and the other members of the embassy.
