Show SISTERS FLEE FRQMJHEX1C0 Laredo, Tex., June 24 Traveling the entire distance in their sectarian garb, seven Josephine Sisters, in charge of Mother Superior Dolores, arrived here today from Mexico City en route to the headquarters of tho Josephine order at Baltimore, Md The sisters, who have been connected with a convent in the Mexican capital, capi-tal, said their train was met by infuriated in-furiated Mexican mobs at many stations, sta-tions, and they believe their robes saved their lives. Mother Dolores, a Spanish nun, declared de-clared tho anti-American propaganda in Mexico was inflaming tho lower classes against Americans and the government of the United States. Several Americans, she said, were taken from the train at Gonzales, near San Luis Potosi, by Carranza authorities. She did not know the chargo against them or what was their fate. The feeling against priests and nuns In Mexico City, Mother Dolores declared, de-clared, was being continually aroused by Mexican officials who made threats against them. Nineteen American refugees arrived ar-rived here tonight from Monercy. They were headed by Mrs. Mabel Davis, niece of Consul General Hanna at Monterey. Mr. Hanna already is in the United States. |
