Within these forests but litle agrl- H cultural laud, not already eliminated I from the forests through the workings work-ings oC the Forest .Homestead act, '.vas found by the examiners, and ex- B cept on the Wasatch, the areas ciassl- HH fad as chiefly valuable for agricul- HHH lure lie along the exterior boundaries H of the forests, where they can be HHH thrown out by a simple change in the present boundaries HH In handling this land classification HH uorlj, it is customary to make first HH what is termed an extensive classlfi- HH cation, which simply designates the H forest areas which obviously have no HH value for agricultural purposes, and HH sets aside for intensive examination ' HH those areas -which may have some H agricultural value, or are doubtful in H character. The intensive examina- HH lion or final classification carried out HH by experts from the bureau of soilo H .nd forest service land examiners. HH classifies these areas definitely, and HH those which are found to be chiefly HH ?luablc for agriculture arc speedily M eliminated from the forests HH In the cases of the Targhee, Wyoni- HH ing and Wasatch forests conditions were such as to permit of complet- HH ing the entire work in one operation, at comparatively light expense, and HH considerable saving of time.
