Show MAYOR PROCLAIMS FOR CLEAN-UP TIME Salt Lake, April 9. Mayor Samuel C. Park Issued a proclamation yesterday, yester-day, declaring Saturday of this week and the six week days of next week as "clean-up days." "For the purpose or inducing all citi- i L . -""' zons having ;it heart the attractiveness, attractive-ness, cleanliness and healthfulness of the city, I recommend that lots, streets, alleys, parks and public grounds be cleaned of rubbish, brush and all unsightly and useless debris nnd trash on the dayo mentioned, believing be-lieving thRt concerted action will bring results,"' says the mayor In hia proclamation. He also makes note of the fact that Wednesday, April 15, is Arbor day, and recommends "the planting ot shrubs, trees, vines and flowers on public and private property for tho beautlficatlon and adornment of the city." The mayor's proclamation is in line with the "clean-up-paint-up" week plans of the Commercial club and Association of City clubs. A similar simi-lar proclamation, it is expected will be issued within a day or two by Governor Spry. It is probable that the governor will also comment on the state-wide clean town contest being be-ing promoted by the Utah Develop ment league. Booklets on clean-up week will be distributed in tho public schools of the city today. They were prepared under the direction of the Commercial club sanitation committee. oo |
