Show CHICAGO GRAIN Chicago, April 9. Cold weather over the southwest put wheat prices today on the upgrade. News that killing frosts had been experienced at many places gave the bulls an advantage ad-vantage notwithstanding denials that the temperature had been severe enough to injure wheat. Firm cables ca-bles counted also in aid of an upturn. Opening quotations were 1-8 to l-2c higher and the market afterward scored a further advance. Regardless of continued purchases of Argentine cargoes to come to Chicago Chi-cago In Mayk corn showed strength. Traders leaned to the idea that not enough supplies to make any difference differ-ence could reach here from South America before June. Prices started a sixteenth off to l-4c up and subsequently subse-quently made a material gain all around. Oats rose with other grain. The market however, was dull. Larger receipts of hogs at western points weakened provisions. First sales were a shade to oc lower and there was no sign of any important rally. Tightness In May wheat contracts Intimated short sellers but the defer red deliveries suffered a decided reaction re-action during the last hour, lopgfj he"-Ing he"-Ing disposed to avoid holiday riske. The close was weak, l-Sl-4c off to l-8c up compared with last night. Liquidating sales later by holders more than wiped out all the galri In corn. Contrary to expectation, Argentine Argen-tine samples received here failed to make good showing. The close wafl weak at 3-8c net decline. Metals. New York, N. Y., April 9. Copper Steady.
