Show I REV, I. C. OLIVER TO I PREACH TONIGHT The interest in the Holy Week ser-rices ser-rices in the First M. B. church was maintained last .night. Rev. A. C. O Liver again preached in his frank, earnest and helpful manner. He took as his text, Matthew 27:5, "And he cast down the pieces of silver In tho temple and departed, and went and hanged himscir." He thowed how Judas was a cull to the conscience.. The conscience is a tremendous pow er in our lives. The conscience is not infallible. The fact that our conscience is not troubled over some matter is no sign that it is not wrong. The conscience disobeyed becomes more and more silent. The revealed law of God's word is a safer guide rhan conscience. Sin is the transgression trans-gression of the law and not of conscience. con-science. No one can blame the temptation temp-tation for sinning. Every one meets his sin half way. The concluding plea to decide for Christ now was very forcibly illustrated illustra-ted from a personal experience of the preacher when, being enrried out to sea by the outgoing tide, he was rescued res-cued by a tow line just in time to avoid being swamped. The plea for decision met with a decided response and the meeting was continued into a moving after meeting. Tonight will be Rev. Oliver's last night in Ogden. when ho will preach upon the crucifixion. At St. Paul's. Gorman Evangelical St. Paul's church will observe Good Friday by a regular morning service at 11 o'clock. All are welcome to attend. P. Ph. Tester, pastor. Twenty-third and Jefferson avenue. oo |
