Show TRIO CONFESS TO ROBBING STRANGER Salt Lake, Feb. 23. Two women and one man were arrested yesterday hy Detectives Moroni Gillespie and H. D. Lyon lor the alleged robber' of Jesse Hamilton, of Memphis, Tenn., and $267 stolen from him Snturday night was recovered by the detectives. The money was found burled In a yeast powder can. Hamilton complained to the police Saturday night that he was robbed at the house of P. J. Wade, 4S North Sixth West street. ' He said that he went with Wade to the Wade residence resi-dence early In the evening and that there ho met a yoiing woman named Fern Stoker. Before long he ills-covered ills-covered that he had been robbed and felt auro that the money had been taken after he arrived at the Wade house. After working on the case Saturday night and Sunday morning, the detectives de-tectives arrested 'the Stoker" girl and Wade and his wife. Viola Wade. MIss Stoker admitted taking the money and Wade and his wife finally told where they burled it in a can at the south side of the house. The detectives dug up tho can and found all of Hamilton's Ham-ilton's cash m It. The thrco were charged with robbery and the money was held as evidence. Hamilton wns on his way to Portland Port-land and had stopped off hero for a visit, Yesterday he reported to tho police that he had only $5 left with which to continue his journey, unless he chose to wait until the caso against the three who are alleged to havo robbed him should be disposed of and the recovered money should be free for him to claim. nn |
