Show FOREST SERVICE MEN ATTENDING THE CONFERENCE Even though this be a national holiday, the foresters of the nation are in session In Salt Lake, attending attend-ing to matters pertaining largely to the silviculture side of the forest service. District foresters and silviculture silvi-culture men of the service from all parts of the United States are in Salt Lake at this time to confer regarding re-garding Important matters respecting respect-ing the handling of timber sales, planning, reforestation, protection and other kindred subjects. However, it Is probable, that only a part of Washington's birthday will be taken up In the consideration of convention affairs. Tomorrow, the foresters will get down to real business busi-ness and by the end of the week It is expected that the conference will be concluded. Assistant Forester W. B. Greeley of the silviculture department of Washington, D. C, accompanied by Forester Earl Clapp, is attending the convention and will advise with the district foresters respecting timber affairs, to the end that the best results re-sults in the sale of timber and in its cultivation and growth may be attained. at-tained. The gentlemen passed through Ogden yesterday on their way to Salt Lake. District Forester A. E. Sherman, who had spent a number of weeks In Washington ! in conference with the heads of the forest service of the United States returned home Saturday evening and is In Salt Lake today. O. M. Butler a"l D. F. Seerey of the silviculture department, of the Ogden district, are also attending the conference. Other district foresters in attendance are: F. A. Silcox of District No. 1, with headquarters at Missoula, Mont.; Smith Riley of forest district No. 2, with headquarters at Denver, Colo.; A. C. Rlngland of district No. 3, with headquarters at Albuquerque, New Mexico; Coert Dubois of district No. 5, with headquarters at San Francisco, Fran-cisco, Cal., and George H. Cecil of district No. 6, with headquarters at Portland, Ore. Mall for all the district foresters is being forwarded to Ogden and they will visit this city during the time of the Salt Lake convention to keep in touch with their home offices. They will spend a day or more In the Ogden office to meet with the local foresters and look- over office affairs. The Ogden office Is one of the big offices of the service, all sup-piles sup-piles being shipped from this district. Associate Forester Albert F. Potter Pot-ter Is somewhere in the western country hut it is not known whether he will attend the convention. It is rather expected that he will, as mail for him is accumulating at the Ogden Og-den office. |
