Show CUBS 10 MEET I II HE Packers of the state will begin an immediate campaign to secure the 1915 convention of the National Can-ners' Can-ners' association for Salt Lake City. Assurances have been given President W. J. Parker of the Utah Canners' association that the national organization organi-zation favors the holding of Us 1915 meeting in the west. The convention conven-tion is one of the largest held In the United States. Under ordinary conditions con-ditions about 4000 members attend, but because of the fairs on the coast noxt year Utah canners declare that there would bo at least G000 here for a Salt Lake meeting. Steps will probably be taken by the Commercial club this week to join with the Utah Canners' association associa-tion in urging the officers of the national na-tional organization to designate Salt Lake City as the 1915 meeting place. J. David Larson, after conferring with Mr. Parker, notified President W. F. Jensen of the Salt Lake Commercial club, that the Weber club stood ready to assist Salt Lake in securing the big prize. A point which Is considered In favor fa-vor of Salt Lake as a meeting place of the national canners Is the fact that the Utah organization of canners has no superior In the national association asso-ciation or packers. Utah ranks fourth in the canning of tomatoes and fifth In Its output of canned peas. The Importance of the canners' convention is shown by the fact that manufacturers of canning machinery had ten carloads of appliances on exhibition at the 1914 convention, which was held recently in Baltimore. |
