Show ASSOCIATION OFFERS FARMERS PROTECTION Logan, Feb. 22. The Utah Dry Farmers association and the agricultural agricul-tural college are making a combined effort to protect inexperienced settlers set-tlers on dry lands of the state from Imposition by land and seed sharpers. sharp-ers. They are going to ask the next legislature to help them in this. The association Is sending out a circular letter to dry farmers, advising advis-ing them that Dr. F. S. Harris, its secretary and head of the college department de-partment of agronomy, will act as a go-between of seed sellers and seed buyers to protect the latter from bad or unsuitable seeds. The letter follows: fol-lows: "As you may be aware the last meeting of tho Utah Dry Farmers association, held In Logan, January 31 in connection with the Farmers Round-up was a great success. A number' of important questions' connected con-nected with the betterment of dry farm conditions in the state were discussed. Among other things there was a strong sentiment in Tavor of legislation to protect prospective dry farmers from laud sharks who would place them on tracts that can never be reclaimed. "We feel that tho dry farmers of the state should givo this question their best thought so that they will bo prepared to make proper recommendations recom-mendations to tho next legislature. "The purpose of tho Utah Dry Farmers association is to 6erve the interests of this great branch of agriculture ag-riculture in the state, and the officers offi-cers would be glad to receive sus- gestions as to the manner in which the association can be of most service. serv-ice. We wish to act as a clearing house for the best Information ob tainable on the subject. "The secretary will be pleased to act between those who have dry farm seed for sale and those who wish to purchase. Those having seed for sale can send their names and prices to him at Logan and he will then be able to tell purchasers where they can most conveniently secure their seed. "We ask your co-operation in helping help-ing to make the association a factor for good in the agriculture of the state." n A |
