Chances elsewhere were small with a majority of declines. Initial losses were extended In some instances, but speculative interest was too slight to affect tho market greaily. The market closed weak today. Slackness of demand for stocks oaused a shading of prices. Tho Influence In-fluence of the poor showing of trade conditions in tho Steel corporation's tonnage figures was felt throughout tho list, with most effect on the stocks of steel companies and related concerns. New Haven weakened on the February statement. Oil shares were hammered down again. Tho small amount of business transacted was almost entirely of the professional sort. Rocnn sentiment continued to favor tho short side, although tho general gen-eral decline was not severe.
