Show NEW ORDER MAY DISPLACE HIGHBROWS A new college organization, which is Intended to do for the athletic student stu-dent what Phi Beta Kappa does for tho "high-brows" in our various colleges col-leges and universities, is now on the way. The movomcnt started in the Middle Mid-dle West and has spread to the east-em east-em schools and has found 3trong support sup-port at Yale. The new society will be secret in a general way and will resemble the two societies for scholarship; Phi Beta Kappn for academic and Sigma Xi for scientific merit. Tlie now fraternity is to be known ts Sigma Delta Psi, and students eligible elig-ible for membership must pass certain cer-tain physical tests. These include twelve all round athletic tests as follows: fol-lows: 100-yard dash, 11 3-5 seconds; 120-yard 120-yard hurdles, 20 seconds; runuing high jump, 5 feet; running broad Jump, IS feet;. putting. 1C pound shot, u0 feet; pole vault, S feet 5 inches, throwing baseball, 250 foot; punting football, 120 feet; three-mile run 18 minutes 30 seconds; 100-yard swim and tumbling: tests ..not yet -ispeclfiecL aB high as third place, just behinf Washington, or as low as sixth. Probably Prob-ably a fair rating would be fourth also putting the Yanks back into the first division for the first time since 1910. A recapitulation of the foregoing presents these guesses as to the ultimate ulti-mate order in the two leagues. National league New York, Chicago, Chica-go, Pittsburg, Brooklyn, Boston Phila delphla, Cincinnati and St. Louis. American league Philadelphia Washington, Boston, New York, Chicago, Chi-cago, Cleveland, Detroit, and St Louis. |
