Show Famous Nine-year-old Stallion Will Again Be on the Turf This Season. New York. April 11. Booger Red, the noted Galloway by Rancancocas out of Hcelcy, is coming back to tho 'turf. After an absence of three years in the stud, the nine-year-old stallion will again be raced this season by Allan Pinkerton. He will be entered in some of the principal events at the metropolitan tracks. Two years ago Mr. Pinkerton refused re-fused an offer of ?S000 made by the English syndicate for Booger Red. The Britons proposed to breed the stallion to polo pony mares. At the time he was retired in 1911 Booger Red was conceded to bo the champion Galloway of this country. He raced from coast to coast, and always al-ways more than held his own. even against much larger thoroughbreds. Among the notable achievements of Booger Red. was the defeat pf Rose-ben. Rose-ben. Chapultcpec. Col. Jack and Bellwether Bell-wether on January 1G, 1909. at the winter meeting of the New California Jockey club in Oakland. It was after aft-er he had won the Homestead cup at the Elkwood park (N. J.) meeting on July 4, 1911. that Booger Red was retired to the stud. |
