SMITH The following Ogden women, members mem-bers of the Weber county lodge, Daughters of the Pioneers, attended the state encampment of that organization organ-ization in Salt Lake City yesterday: Mrs. Josephine West, Mrs. Kathcr-ine Kathcr-ine Toponce, Mrs. Millie Flygare, Mrs. Bird Parker and daughter, Mrs. Eliza Child, Mrs. Mary Jackson, Mrs. Eliza Rowson, Mrs. Lenora Pardoe, Mrs. Packard, Mrs. Roxane Pidcock. Mrs. Lee Hammond, Mrs. A, H. Moycs and Mrs. J. W. PiJeoch. Mrs. Adeline Knight Belnap, a pioneer resident of Ogden was also present. Features of special Interest to the Ogden members were an address given giv-en by Mrs, Belnap and the many congratulations con-gratulations given them on their flue report for the year just passed. Mrs. Belnap, who is the mother of G. R. Belnap of Ogden, is SI years of age and she spoke for nearly" half an hour on the dark days for the Mormon church in Nauvooand Kirkland, of personal acquaintance. with the Prophet Pro-phet Joseph Smith and of early days In Utah. Her remarks about the pro-i phct wore especially interesting and! she spoke with a remarkably strong and clear voice. The report of the local organization was read by Mrs. Eliza Child and, after it was concluded, Mrs. .Child gave a short talk, explaining in general gen-eral the work being done by the Ogden members. The Salt Lake members mem-bers appeared much surprised at the progress made "by the Ogden lodge In ita two years of life and said that they could not understand how It had fared so well In a financial way or how its membership had become so large. One of the Important things at the meeting was tho passing, by a unanimous unani-mous vote, a resolution to patronize home Industry.. Mrs. Mary Richards, president, and Mrs, Rlnthla Douglass and Miss Rachel Ra-chel Mlddleton, members of the general gen-eral board were unable to attend the meeting owing to sickness. |
