Show AGED LUMBERMAN PASSESAWAY Frederick W. Weyerhaeuser Succumbs to Ten-day Fight With Pneumonia. Pasadena, Cal., April 4. Frederick W. Weyerhaeuser, the multi-millionaire Minnesota lumberman, died today to-day at his winter home at Oak Knoll, aged -79. Mr. Weyerhaeuser was stricken ten days ago with a soverc cold. Threatening symptoms developed devel-oped and several times ho sank to the verge of death, but rallied and yesterday appeared to be all but recovered. re-covered. Mr. Weyerhaeuser's body was sent east at noon aboard a limited train bound for Rock Island, Ills., his old home, for interment. Mr. Weyerhaeuser caught cold Sunday Sun-day a week ago while attending church. On the following Wednesday Wednes-day his condition boenmo so alarming alarm-ing that his childron wore sent for. Three physicians were Called and remained re-mained In constant attendance day and night. They managed to overcome over-come recurrent sinking spells until shortly after 5 o'clock thi3 morning, when the patient sank into a coma, and passed away at 8:30 o'clock. His sons, John, Frederick, Rudolph and Charles and his daughters, Mrs. Margaret .Tewett, Mrs. W. B. Hill and Mrs. S. S. Davis, were at the bedside at tho end. The final sinking spell came at a time when it was believed that Mr. Weyerhaeuser would recover. Several Sev-eral days ago he appearod to bo on the verge of death, but resorts to oxygen rallied him and thereafter he appeared to Improve rapidly. The only disquieting symptom was an uncertain un-certain heart, action and the physicians physi-cians believed yesterday they had finally fi-nally overcome this. But this morning morn-ing it recurred and neither oxygen nor any other stimulant would avail. |
