Show COUNTY ASKED TO OPEN A ROAD TO RAILROAD S wi independent telephone to build a lino to roy county board in session from mondays standard only routine matters were brought before the board of county commissioners at their regular weekly session this morning the dispute over the opening of a new road to tha property of the lake shore duck club in the warren district was settled by a compromise agreed upon by the contesting factions only a part of the proposed road will be opened the right of way will be donated to the county by the land owners when this matter was brought before the board T R OC W L stewart and W A were present they stated that they had agreed among themselves not to ask for tha extension of the road west of the ho springs but would only ask for chii extension as far north as the north west corner of section 19 on motion of mr allson the application foi the extension of the road to that point was granted it being understood that the right of way would be furnished tree to the county W L stewart of warren district one of those who appeared in connection with the above also stated that the southern pacific railroad company had agreed to put in a switch for th loading of beets in the warren district and asked that the county open a road from the warren bridge south to the railroad on motion of mr wll son the matter was referred to mr madsen for investigation and report E G mcgrath of north ogden ap feared before the board and stated that the motor line company was willing to put in a switch for the loading of fruit opposite the property owned by david francis but that the road supervisor had objected to tha placing of the switch at the point desired tor the reason that it would encroach upon the sidewalk if one was ever placed there on motion of mr madsen the question was referred to mr allson tor investigation with power to act mr madsen reported having visited plain city district where he found the road supervisor grading on the road west of the hot springs also that he visited the west weber district and in company with the road supervisor the road was thoroughly inspected he ordered some of the drains cleaned and a number of otner small repairs in a visit to north ogden district he said that he had found the roads la very bad shape and recommended that as soon as possible steps ba taken to secure the road machinery heretofore hereto fora contemplated with a view to repairing the highways in that district mr madsen further reported tl the wells were now being driven the garland district to secure a sup ply of water tor the road sprinkler re bently purchased mr allson reported that the recent heavy rains had washed material on to the canyon road and that he had directed road supervisor alien of huntsville to clear away tha same and also to clean out any obstructed ted cu lverts he also reported that mr ham who has the contract for the painting of two bridges in tha canyon had begun work on the tures and that the same was now pro grossing nicely mr allson was granted further time to report on the application for tha closing of a road in the liberty district which crossed the property owned by the sidney stevens implement company the same commissioner report ed that the road supervisor of ran dall district had repaired the cu lverts in north ogden canyon in a communication the utah indo pendent telephone company stated that they desired to extend their alpe from Ri verdale over the county road to roy and asked that the board fix the location of the pole line as they desired to build immediately the petition was referred to commissioner madsen the county auditor reported that tho work of extending and computing the 1905 taxes upon the assessment rolls would be completed by the first monday in september mr wilson reported that the county treasurer requested to be authorized to purchase stamped envelopes at 2140 per thousand the same to be used tor sending out the second tax notices tor 1905 also that he be authorized to temporarily employ additional dit ional clerical assistance during tha preparation and mailing of said notices the requests wera granted and the county auditor ordered to draw a warrant for to cover cost of tha envelopes the bond of S W cragen constable con of pleasant view in the sum of 1000 with W T pickett and george D folkman as sureties was approved the board then allowed the regular salaries of the different departments at the court house and poor farm of ter which an adjournment was taken for one week |
