Show COUNTY BOARD OF EDUCATION question of coal and furnaces under discussion the county board of education met in regular weekly session and the greater portion of the session was taken up with discussion on the furnishing of coal for the heating of the different schools this question Is rather a complex one due to the tact that the schools are so widely scattered the question of price etc could not be agreed upon and the board finally decided to leave the proposition in the hands of the members from east representative district with power to act separately the board added one name to the lisor ot hattie welch forthe morgan school this leaves but three vacancies to be filled from a list composed of twenty seven applicants it was decided that a meeting be called by notice from the clerk fixing the date for all teachers elected to receive instructions from the board of education and the county superintendent prior to the opening of the schools the date could not be named as it was uncertain on what date they could secure the county commissioners court room which they desire to use for that purpose the clerk rendered a report showing the indebtedness in the county as follows floating bonded As as the real estate property is transferred to the board this will transfer the indebtedness the matter 0 heating the schools came in tor a lengthy discussion it was brought out that many of the furnaces now in the different buildings were in bad shape so that it would probably be advisable to purchase new ones it was seated that the repairs on the old furnaces would cost one half as much us entirely new ones this question was still under discus slon at the afternoon session |
