Show ari 4 AT SUICIDE A FAILURE CHARLES beaton TOOK DOSE OF LAUDANUM friends applied emetics and man lives to deny the whole story of the affair from fridays standard charles seaton residing at s beet was reported to have taken a quani iby of laudanum shortly after 7 last evening with suicidal intent the prompt action of the mans friends in applying emetics probably saved seamons seatons Sea tons life according to the story told by one of the residents of the neighborhood in which seaton lives it was shortly after the hour above named that sea tons younger brother ran down street in a very excited condition ask ing where he could find a telephone to i summon a doctor at the residence of elmer crockett jr street be was told that he might use their telephone and when asked what case the physician was desired tor he stated that his brother had taken a quantity of laudanum in an attempt to commit suicide it appears that although the call was given to the telephone office none of the city physicians could be secured tor bome time and when they did finally reach one his services were not required as some of the people about the seaton home had applied black coffee and other emetics which offset he effects of the poison seaton is tha father of two children and resides with his parents at the above address the father and mother of the man are absent in california at the present time it is stated that seaton had been drinking quite heavily lart evening and later had some tarn ly troubles that are supposed to havo caused him to make the rash attempt upon his life the alleged would be suicide is about 25 years of age and is an em aloye of the local shops of the southern pacific company when inquiry was made by telephone at the house seaton himself answered the call and in response to inquiries stated that there was no truth to the report even denying that an attempt bad been made to summon a physician however some of the residents of the neigh boyhood who inquired at the home earlier in the evening were given the information that Is given above burdock blood bitters gives a man a dear head an active brain a strong vigorous body makes him fit for the battle of life |
