Show GOV. SPRY BACK FROMJHE EAST Governor William Spry returned yesterday yes-terday afternoon from an. eastern trip whither ho has been for tho past two weeks. During his absence from Utah Governor Spry attended the annual conference of governors at Richmond, Va conferred with President Taft In Washington and spont some time In New York. For the next two weeks tho governor will bo very busy with hiB duties as a member of the state capitol commission, and making arrangements ar-rangements for the coming session of the state legislature. The governor has in preparation his inaugural address ad-dress and hie biennial message to the state legislature. The" governor was pleased with the work of the conference of governors at Richmond, though he believed that the conference should havo done more in tho line of uniform legislation than it had dono In tho pasL Among the matters taken up at the governors' conference wore the proposed farmers' loans suggested by President Taft, a plan of making legal procedure especially espe-cially in criminal cases much more brief than at present, uniform marriage marri-age and divorce laws, the race question ques-tion as presented by the fiery and, er ratio Governor Bleaso of South Carolina Caro-lina and proposed state Income tax laws. Following the conference, Governor Spry went to Washington, where, with ninny of the governors, ho conferred with the president relative to his farmers' farm-ers' loan plan. He took advantage of the occasion to present for the citizens of Tremonton a box of winter banana apples to the president, a gift which pleased the president mightily. While In Washington, Governor Spry attended attend-ed a conference of Republican leaders to discuss a plan of reorganization for the party |
