Show nil in the HMMEST Spokane, Wash., March 19. Anaconda Ana-conda Gold Mining and Reduction company of Spokane, has been organized organ-ized by Arthur L. Flagg, an engineer with long oxperlenco in the Durango district of McxMco; G. A. Collins, consulting con-sulting engineer. G. S. Bailey, Gcorgo Kcbol and N. D. Walling, also engineers. engi-neers. The capitalization is $2,000,-000. $2,000,-000. The company has bonded and made lie first payment on the Ida, Lucky Fraction, Ruby, Last Shot, First Thought, Josephine and Minnie claims covering practically all of the ground between the Qullp and tho old Republic mines in the Republic district dis-trict in northeastern Washington. It Is claimed that the mother lode of tho camp is on tho property. It Is planned to diamond drill the entire group to ascertain location, extent and quality of the ore. Mr. Flagg will have chargo of the work. It Is given out that the continuity of tho vein has been established. Tunnel and shaft development work Is to follow fol-low tho drilling. Announcement Is made In Spokane that W. A. Clark, formerly Unltol States senator from Montana, will expend ex-pend $100,000 In the development ot 4a group of claims on Sunset Peak, north of Wallace, Idaho A large force of men Is employed on the property and additional men will bo put on the job' as soon as weather permits. A winze Is now being sunk on tho main lead and when this has beon completed, a drift will be run with the expectation of encountering encounter-ing a large body of rich ore. Mr. Clark has owned the property 20 years, but up to the present time there has been nothing more than exploration ex-ploration work Frank R, Culbortson, chairman of the mining committee of the Spokane chamber of commerce, announces that tho public land question will be the keynote of the annual meeting of the American Mining congress in Spokane tho last week of November Governors Govern-ors of Washington, Oregon, California, Nevada, Arizona, New Mexico, Texas, Oklahoma, Utah, Colorado, Wyoming and Montana, the Dakotas, Minnesota and other states will be Invited to participate par-ticipate In the discussions. Armstrong, president of the Spokane Mining Men's club, he says is planning to spend at least three months in Spokane Spo-kane to direct arrangements for the convention. I Swamp King Mining company, controlled con-trolled by Spokane 'investors, has received re-ceived an offer from a Dakota company com-pany for a lease of the three claims at Orient, Wash., ' on a basis of 15 per cent royalty. The company has been holding out for 25 per cent, but Is considering the offer. Tho ore of a six-foot vein Opened by a 70-foot shaft Is of high grade and contains much shipping stuff. An open cut on the surface has cross-cut another ore body for a distance of 28 feet. This rock In numerous assays as-says has shown values of $18 to tho ton. Throo feet of black sulphide of copper cop-per was encountered this week on the Spokane Tunnel mine on Placer creek, north of Wallace, Idaho. Tho vein Is 15 feot in width and well mineralized min-eralized throughout. While no assays as-says have beon made, it Is estimated the ore will run more than ?35 to the ton. The strike was made In the faco of tho tunnol, which is now in 1,100 foot. The company, which Is composed of Wallace and Spokane men, owns five claims In the copper belt north of Wallace and has been doing a large amount of development work.
