Show TO OPEN PANAMA BOND BIDS TODAY WASHINGTON,' June 16. More than li.OOO bids for the government's $50,000,000 issue of 3 per cont Panama Pan-ama bonds will be opened by Secretary Secre-tary MacVoagh tomorrow afternoon. Financiers are greatlv interested in what price the issue will bring. Reports that bids had already been opened circulated between Washington and New York today and gave some uneasiness to treasury officials until the cause was explained. Several small bids and one large ono were received improperly marked and wore returned to the senders as quickly as possiblo to give them a chance to bid in proper form. The bonds have beon selling on the New York curb as high as 103. Government Gov-ernment officials think the average price bid will range from 101 to x03 CUost of tho securities of foreign nations na-tions are selling below par and the prices bid for tho now Panamas will be taken to reflect the credit of this nation as it compares with others. Clerks will work tomorrow night and Sunday tabulating the bids and the results may not be known before Monday. The securities will be delivered de-livered about July 1. oo |
