Show 00 OFFICERS MAKE CLEVERJAPTURE In the arrest of the alleged two ringleaders of a gE of horso thieves who have been operating in Weber and Davis counties for tho past several sev-eral wcoks the officers believe that they have brought to a close a series of depredations resulting in the loss of no less than a half dozen valuable horses Both men, Fred Matzcn and M P. Nellsen, were arrested in this city by Sheriff E. E Harrison and his deputies depu-ties and the local officers are to be congratulated in capturing the men, for whom all the authorities of not only Utah, but also adjoining states have been searching. It is believed j that this same gang of thieves has I been operating since early spring and tho greatest number of thefts wore committed in Davis county, although horses were also stolen in this city and Salt Lake. Matzon was the first man arrested, his capture taking place on Monday. Tho fact was withheld from tho public pub-lic until Matzon confosscd, implicating Neilsen and others. Nellson was arrested ar-rested yesterday and officers aro searching for the other members f the gang In Idaho and Wyoming. According to Matzen's story tho stolen horses wore brought direct to this city or Salt Lake and sold or traded. |
