Show DRAMA OF UTAH AT CHAUTAUQUA The Caledonian society of Ogden last night at their meeting after an address by F. V. Fisher, manager of the Ogden Chautauqua, voted to tako the lead in preparing a great Scotch, demonstration and exhibition on "Old ( Home Day," July 29, at tho coming Chautauqua. The afternoon of that clay will be given over to a. great pageant of all nations, when all the Scotch, Welsh, Irish, Scandinavian, German and other oth-er societies of other nations in Utah will bo asked to give folk dances, music, sports and other characteristic events. This is only one of a series of three great pageants being planned for the Chautauqua. Tho first will occur on Pioneers' day it will be a great spectacular drama of Utah's history from prehistoric prehis-toric days till now. The manager anj vice president yesterday visited tho grounds at Glenwood park and planned to bridge the Ogden river at the park and stage the great drama on the bluffs and shore of the south side and use the entire grounds of the park for an amphitheater to watch the "scenes. The pageant will picture the prehistoric prehis-toric contest of Neptune and Ceres for the valleys of Utah, the age of the Utes, the coming of Ogden the Trapper, tho famous appearance of the Mormon pioneers on the passes of the mountains, the dedication ot Utah to religion, tho birth of irrigation, irriga-tion, the coming of the flag, the birth of the state and the builders of Utah today and other historic scenes. The other pageant will be given on Boys' and Girls' day and will be given by the Boys' and Girls' clubs under Miss Lamkln of Illinois and will be known as "Das Garten Spell." |
