Show Ogden Company Will Do Short Line's Double-Tracking Double-Tracking From Farmington to This City Will Also Build Line From Kelton, Utah, to Burley, Idaho, and the Road From Home Dale, Idaho, to Nyssa, Oregon. The uncertainty which has existed with regard to the double tracking Improvements on the Oregon Short Line has been dispelled by the awarding award-ing of extensive contracts to the Utah Construction company of this city. The contract awarded jester-day jester-day calls for 112 miles of construction work at threo different points on the systom. This action on he part of tho Har-rlman Har-rlman company means much to this city, not only in tho fact that an Ogden Og-den company received the contract, but also in that tho Junction City will lie made tho working basis for the doublo tracking from here to Farmlngton, a most Important improvement im-provement mentioned in tho contract. Supplies for this piece of work will be distributed from this city and the majority of the laborers will ai6o be secured hero. The completion of the additional track between Ogden and Snlt Lake marks the beginning of the Short Line's campaign for Improved Improv-ed service between tho two cities. With the completion of the double track an hourly motor service with a 45-minuto schedulo will bo inaugurated. inaugurat-ed. General Superintendent E. C. ManBon Btates that four powerful motor mo-tor cars for this uervice have already been ordered. The doublo track work between Ogden and Fnrmlngton will probably bo completed early In the fall. The improvements called for In the other two contracts awarded to tho Utah Construction company aro 66 miles of grading between Burjey, Idaho, Ida-ho, and Kelton, Utah, and another 26 mileR between Nyssa, Oregon, and Home Dale, Idaho. All of tho work mentioned In the contracts awarded yesterday Is to be paid out of the 576,000,000 expenditure for improvements' improve-ments' recently authorized by tho company. |
