Show Sawdust Building Blocics. One of the most promising methods which have been devised for the utilizn-tion utilizn-tion of sawdust is in use in Germany, where blocks for building are made of that material. The accounts given of their quality are extremely favorable favor-able as regards their strength, lightness, light-ness, hardness of exterior and capability capabil-ity of resisting fire. It is in fact claimed for them that they arc practically practi-cally noncombustible,- bat nothing short of the most complete demonstration demonstra-tion can justify the use of that terra in its fall literal significance. The sn-.v dust is mixed with an acid before the blocks are molded. Their cost as now made is moderate compared with other materials of equal utility, and it is thought that the process may be still further economized. Mechanical Kews. |
