Show Air Warrior Sent Back to States Calvin A. King, 22, aviation redio-jman, redio-jman, first class, USN'R, K-15 Bonneville Bonne-ville Park, Ogden, crewman of an Avenger torpedo bomber, is returning return-ing for leave in the Slates after completing 68 combat, missions including in-cluding air support strikes at Iwo Jima and Okinawa. One of the close calls in his Pacific Pa-cific duty occurred when his plane hit the catwalk of his carrier base, hung there for seconds and then plunged into the sea. Crew members mem-bers were all rescued safely, altho they spent many hours in the water. King, the son of M-S D. W. King wears the distinguished flying cross, and an air medal with five gold stars, for repeated awards of the same medal. He is married to the former Jean Meek, of Memphis, Tenn. |
