Show Promoted to First Lieutenant The public relations office of Lubbock Lub-bock Army Air Field, Texas, has announced" the promotion of J. R. .Gardner, son of Mr. and Mrs. Clair F. Gardner of Delta, from second to first lieutenant. Lt. Gardner entered the Air Force Reserve in June, 1912, and was called to active duty as an aviation avia-tion cadet in January, 1913. After receiving his wings Nov. 3, 1943 at Eagle Pass AAF, Texas, he remained remain-ed at Eagle Pass instructing new fighter pilots until January, 1945, when the big AAF instrument air flight school was activated at Lubbock. Lub-bock. At the present time Lt. Gardner, a veteran flight commander with over 2,000 hours flying time and a holder of AAF's highest rating is assisting in training returned combat com-bat pilots in "all weather" flying, blind flying on instrumets, and radio ra-dio aids to pilots, even to systems whereby an airplane can be safe--!v landed on instruments when the JJeather makes visual landing im-t7.' im-t7.' ossible. |
