Nielson "' Darnae Nielson, Fireman 2c Pvt. Merritt Nielson Mr. and Mrs. Wallace Nielson of Leamington have the distinction of having five sons serving in the armed ar-med forces during World War II. Cpl. Sterlng Nielson was the first to enter and left for the army on August 19,1942. At the present time he is a cook m New Guinea. The second boy, Le Grand Nielson Niel-son Gunner's Mate 2c, chose the navy and started his boot training train-ing on November 2,1942. At present he is at Pearl Harbor. Cpl. Harlan E. Nielson entered the army on May 13, 1943, and at the present time is on his way o-verseas. o-verseas. Darnae Nielson, Fireman 2c also al-so went into the navy and entered that service in July of 1944. He is stationed at San Bruno, California. The last to leave for the army was Pvt. Merritt Nielson, who entered en-tered the army in January of 1944. He is now at Claybourne, Louisi-anna Louisi-anna taking bivouac maneuvers. Two sons are living with Mr. and Mrs. Nielson in Leamington at the present time. They are Evan,, 15, and Larry, 9. Mr. and Mrs. Nielson may well take pride in this family record. All over America young men have willingly entered the armed forces and given their best, and to have five sons in the service of their country is high honor, indeed, not only to the sons, but also to the parents of such sons. |
