Show 1 Youths in luvenile Court on Theft; Check Charges Over twenty boys appeared in the juvenile court this past Friday in an all-day session to hear cases ranging from stealing jewelry, which has been estimated at $600, cashing worthless checks, breaking windows, smoking under age, and general disobedience. Judge Sterling R. Bossard, from Manti, the juvenile judge heard the cases, and will come again next week to hear further evidence of juvenile delinquency. According to local peace officers the boys have been carrying on a series of minor thefts over a long period, and lately branched out into in-to more pronounced thefts which amounted to a considerable sum. In one case two rings were stolen from a drug store, one valued at $49.50 and the other at $34.50, and they were re-sold for $1.00 each by the boys. Their total thefts of jewelry jew-elry has been figured at $600. Worthless checks were cashed in the amount of $34.00. Four of the boys were committed to the state industrial school and their sentences suspended. The others were put on probation for good behavior, and they, with the four with suspended sentences, will be checked frequently by the local peace officers, County Attorney El-don El-don A. Eliason, and by the juvenile .judge, Sterling R. Bosard, as to their attitudes and future behavior. |
