Show Anthony Callister En Roue Home WITH THE 35TH INFANTRY DIVISION, DI-VISION, FRANCE S. Sgt. Anthony C. Callister is enroute home from Europe with the 5-star "Santa Fe" Division which in ten months battled bat-tled across the Elbe River to within with-in 42 miles from Berlin. The 35th ended its occupational duties in Germany during the second sec-ond week of July and moved to Camp Norfolk, one of theAssembly Area Command's 17 redeployment camps near Reims. Elements of the Division served as honor guard for President Truman when he arrived ar-rived at Antwerp. Hitting Omaha Beach, July 17, 1944, the 35th fought the Germans from St. Lo, broke the counterof-fenisve counterof-fenisve at Mortain, swept across France, cracked into Germany's Saar Valley on December 12, and then whipped into Belgium and to Luxemberg to wither Von Rund-estedt's Rund-estedt's Ardennes bulge. Following a shift to the Vosgos Mountains, the Division dashed 300 miles north through Holland to jump the Roer and Rhine rivers, crash the Siegfried Line defenses, and scoop up more than 30,000 PW by V-E Day, to mark the end of more than 1600 combat miles in the ETO.
