Show Mr. .lonn II. Hopkins went up into the Snake river country last Monday and leturned Thursday morning. He went vvitli the intention of buying land theic, but after Investigation found pi ices so high that he deems it best to remain in Cache Valley, if he can tlnd something dcshablc. Mr. Hopkins was all over the Idaho Falls and Kexburg country and found a 320 acre piece of ground about nine miles from Idaho Falls and four miles from the sugar factor' that he desired very much, but there were live others in the party who desired It also. The price asked was (" per acre and water rights uncertain. In that country most of the big canals are owned by big companies who are operating in such a way, 'tis said, that they are liable to kill the big boom that Is on there. There are hundreds moving Into that territory from Eastern and Western states, but are beginning to have trouble over their water. Mr. Hopkins liked the Kexbtng country best, inasmiicli as the water Is owned by local capital. He says that little town is coming to the front In great shape, having electric lights, good substantial buildings and hundreds of residences in couise or construction. The Kicks Academy is an elegant stiucture, according to Mr. Hopkins, "as pretty as any building in Logan." He was enthusiastic over the hustling capacity or the real estate men up thcie, and said that one or the sugar racloiles thcio Is doing things up handsomely. Flue lawns aie set out 'lound the factory, hundreds of tine shade trees, splendid residences resid-ences for the high salaried men and neat cottages ror the ordinary laborer. Every thing is as clean and neat as can bo and those who visit the place arc most favorably Impressed. In fact, the whole countiy Is alive and hustling ror greater and better things. |
