Show BLM plans Public Field Trip The Bureau of Land Management has announced a public field tour in conjunction con-junction with an upcoming Grazing Environmental Impact Statement for western Beaver and Iron Counties. This EIS is being written in compliance with a 1975 Federal Court order requiring statements on all public grazing lands. The suit, brought against the BLM by the National Resources Defense Council, also established a schedule for completion. The Pinyon EIS, as this one is known, must be completed by 1982. In order to meet this schedule, inventories are now underway to collect required data. In announcing the tour Arlen Jensen, Beaver River Resource Area Manager, said all livestock operators in the area and many others that have a direct interest have been invited by mail. Everyone is welcome however, and Jensen is hoping for a large turnout. "We plan to conduct the field tour on July 11, 1979, to demonstrate the techniques used in our inventories. I would encourage anyone with an interest in this area to become familiar with these procedures. We will meet at the High School parking lot in Milford, at 9:30 a.m. Please bring your own transportation and a lunch," Jensen said. Inventories will be made on minerals, range, recreation, soils, watershed, wildlife and woodlands. The public is welcome to provide any information they feel would have an impact on these inventories. |
