Show Council Adopts New Salary Schedule of two years. The schedules are broken down into monthly, bi-monthly and hourly salary plan charts. Salaries for city councilmen, the mayor, the city attorney and city manager were not increased. A seven percent cost of living increase for the city's employees was approved by the council. With the adaptation of the salary schedule overall increases should be an average of 12.5 percent over last year's salaries. Other business --In other business the council awarded the bid for a backhoe to Scott Machinery for $20,300. The backhoe is being purchased for the Water Department. --The council approved a "fun-run" on July 4 which will close a few city roads for several hours. The run is being sponsored by the Upward Bound Program at Southern Utah State College. The Cedar City Council passeil an ordinance to adopt the newly prepared salary schedule lor city employees at the budget hearing last Thursday. City employees will now be placed in "grades" considering the responsibilities, necessary education, possible hazards, experience, etc. for their particular positions. Employees will receive cost of living increases but merit raises will be on a step program according to the persons "grade". For example a grade seven clerk-secretary clerk-secretary would begin at $775 per month but through merit increases could increase through nine merit "steps" to $968 a month in a minimum |
